Crazy for daisies
As the remains of Blizzard 2011 slowly wash away, and ugly *dibs materials return to more appropriate indoor storage areas, we Chicagoans cannot stop ourselves from thinking spring. Those of us working at Paper Source, both at the Chicago corporate office and in our 43 store locations, also find promise of a changing season in daisies!
Why are we so fond of daisies?
A daisy is associated with simplicity, innocence, loyal love, beauty, purity and patience. It is one of the few flowers to have absolutely no negative symbolism. They exude a positive energy that is ideal for those who suffer from winter fatigue, and a genuine happiness that transcends geographic location.
Our daisy pattern began as a simple line drawing of a small daisy cluster, showing the fronts and backs of the flowers. We also incorporated a few closed blooms, as if they had not yet opened their eyes to begin the day. Like many of us! (Did you know: Daisies open during the day and close at night?) How-to: easter egg cups
These sweet egg cup holders will make an adorable addition to your easter table or spring gathering. Nestle ready-to-eat hard cooked eggs inside or proudly display the dyed and decorated variety. Another great tip – use them as place card holders! Just make the grassy coil tighter, write guests’ names onto business cards, and tuck them into the tall grasses.

Fresh spring party favors
Here’s a fun, affordable way to do a fresh take on party favors (think also wedding favors or baby shower favors). I picked out these sweet mini grape hyacinths at the market and set them into our recycled takeout boxes, lined with a simple wax paper to prevent moisture from showing. An unexpected gift for your guests, not only does this create a wonderful aroma, but it gives them something to plant and grow when they get home. And they make for a lovely table decoration during the party. Any small flower will do– pansies, mini daisies, spruce seedlings, etc. This simple little takeaway will leave a lasting impression, and it’s eco-friendly too!
