Creative gift giving: Flip flop bracelets (with printable tag)

Among the small treats that make me happy (in no particular order): chocolate, coffee, sheets of Lokta paper, new felt tip pens and, now, flip flop bracelets! I love mixing different color palettes on my wrist with stacks of these recycled bangles, and I absolutely love the story behind them.

    stacked bracelets

These bracelets are made by a group of women in Mali (West Africa), who collect worn out flip flops, melt them down and draw the plastic into colorful loops. Everyday flip flops are reborn as unique, handmade bangles. One can only guess the journey each one of these lovely trinkets has taken. Read the rest of this entry »

Fresh from the field, our lucky new color!

    paper source clover

We’re feeling lucky because our new shade of Clover arrived just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! Now you can create fun stationery or festive decor with our newest green in solid papers and envelopes.

This happy green answers a frequent customer request for something vibrant and true. Mix with Sunshine and Strawberry for a summertime party. Combine with Beet or Peacock for a rich wedding palette. Or go earthy with shades Cement, Gravel and a hit of bright Clover. It’s a fresh accent for weddings, baby showers, birthday parties or a tribute to Ireland.

So in the spirit of the season, we’d like to celebrate the arrival of Clover with an “Éirinn go Brách!” Won’t you join us?

Fresh from the branch: Our sweet new shade of paper

    paper source fig

You serve them on a cheese tray, mix them in yogurt, and bundled them tightly with bacon – yum! And now you can whip up deliciously beautiful paper creations with our new Fig solid papers and envelopes.

Rich and luxurious, this deep hue will inspire romance and accentuate modern design. Combine with Gravel for a classic wedding invitation suite. Accent your summertime dinner party with Fig and Peacock place settings. Or celebrate your travels through the markets of Marrakesh with Fig and Persimmon stationery.

It’s a wonderful addition to our assortment of colors.

Not sure if Fig accurately represents your true colors? Let the new Paper Source Colorscope guide you to creative success.

Gifts for kids – Lindsay’s fall favorites!

For this blog entry I wanted to focus on some of my favorite new kids gifts! One item that I like simply for its cute design and Japanese aesthetic is the Momiji doll. The new ones for fall are Snuggle (with the mushroom hat) and Happy Birthday (with the adorable pigtails and a cake for you!). These sweet little dolls are collectible and have a hole in the bottom where a child can store secrets or place special notes for friends. It’s a whole new way to pass notes in class.

Gifts for kids_momiji dollsGifts for kids_sound machines

A favorite around here are the sound machines. We have a lot of fun in the office with these, playing the bomb dropping sound when someone bombs a joke or the “re re re” knife stabbing sound when we’re dealing with a difficult situation such as… well, a completely new computer system. The sound machines come in three styles: classic, cartoon and horror, just in time for Halloween. You could have a lot of fun scaring trick-or-treaters, hiding in the porch shadows with the Spooky Sound Machine.

Giant helium balloonsAnother personal favorite is the Monster Balloon. This thing gets huge! It can be inflated to over 3 feet in diameter and is seriously mesmerizing for kids and adults alike. It’s made in the US from completely biodegradable latex, and is a great lung workout for whoever gets the treat of blowing it up! What fun they would be inflated with helium in clusters for a party like this pic!

Now that the new school year has started kids will need some things to keep them entertained, besides just Silly Bandz and Japanese erasers – hopefully some of these great kids gifts will do the trick.
