A most unusual paper collection

Is it wrong to collect something that wasn’t meant to be seen? No, according to me and my Paper Source work mates. A few months ago I brought in my collection of security envelopes and tacked them to my inspiration board. Each day since everyone in the Design Department has been adding to the mix! They’re really quite beautiful and detailed.
Some of the envelopes are duplicates so I made some origami with them. Patterns courtesy of “Home Decorating With Origami” by Tomoko Fuse.

Too funny — I was just peeking inside one of those protective and secure envelopes and was inspired by the detail — even thought about using it to make a card, but then after I heard my interior monologue reminding me of my other “for some future unknown purpose collections” I tossed them.
Your collection of the “not meant to be seen” is beautiful and totally indicative of creative minds.
I’ve been collecting (and using!) interesting security envelopes to use in my paper crafting projects for over a year. My favorite patterns are the faux bois, but love the punk sensibility some of the more abstract ones add to a project.

And when I initially saw the papers I thought they were a new collection from some company but after reading the post realized that they were just envelopes that are looking so beautiful!

There’s something cool about the patterns of security envelopes. I’ve been collecting them too and using them in paper craft projects. I really like your collection and how neatly you’ve displayed them. Thanks for sharing

I love that you are inspired by something so random and ordinary! I just happened to make origami too! I collect wallpaper from thrift stores and use it for all sorts of things. I made origami gift boxes with my wallpaper and filled them with yummy baked goods!
